Wash the Spider Out

On our last day in Paris, we visited the Louvre. After several hours we began our walk out of the Louvre, through the Tuileries, towards the Place de la Concorde. A light rain started falling. Light rains had been falling for the entirety of the trip, and despite being from drought-stricken California I was now used to them. Then it started to rain harder, and in the course of one minute what felt like golf ball-sized rain drops flew from the sky, pelting us, covering and soaking through every square inch and layer of clothing we had on. That's what today was like, except today it was in Southern California, and I had classes to attend, books to buy, and work to walk to. And I forgot my umbrella.
