Picking Nits

Design is in the details. Something as simple as a 1 pixel, barely noticable outline can enhance a user’s perception of a design dramatically. In keeping with that spirit I have been tweaking several of these small, barely noticable details on this page; these include:

  • Adding a shadow to the right column of the page
  • A subtle outline on the navigation over to the left.
  • Removing a lightly colored line in the footer, and adjusting the dirt marks/scratches so that they look good on pages in which the light green box does not reach all the way to the footer (for example the web design section)

Most likely nobody would ever have complained about these things, or even noticed them. But being a perfectionist is a designer’s job and it will hopefully make the experience of visitors a better one.
